How to Disable Java in Chrome

The United States Computer Emergency Response Team (US-CERT) posted a bulletin last week outlining a critical vulnerability in Oracle’s Java Runtime Environment. Oracle has recently released an update to address the issue, but as of today US-CERT continues to recommend using Java only if absolutely necessary. Consequently, we at Dito have fielded a number of questions about disabling Java in Google Chrome; it's easier than you might think, and we’ve outlined the steps below:

Step 1: Open Chrome
Step 2: Using the Chrome Omnibox (address bar) navigate to chrome://plugins
Step 3: Scroll through your list of plugins until you locate Java - click Disable

Note: If you have multiple profiles in Chrome, be sure to follow the above steps to disable Java for each profile.
