Simply open your Contacts from Gmail, and you will notice that stars now appear next to each contact. After you click the star, that individual is then added to the Starred Contact Group.

From your Android device, select your Contacts App. Next, click Groups and locate your Google Account.
You can access your contacts this way, or by selecting your Favorites group (shown in the screenshot above, next to “Groups”).
