Pro Tip: Starring Contacts

February’s Pro Tip is short and sweet, just like the month. We are already familiar with using Stars in our inbox to mark certain messages as important or to highlight messages we need to follow up on later. This month, we will discuss the exciting new feature that allows you to star individuals in Google Contacts. This feature will be slowly rolling out, and will sync any of your starred contacts to a group on your Android devices.

Simply open your Contacts from Gmail, and you will notice that stars now appear next to each contact. After you click the star, that individual is then added to the Starred Contact Group.



Android users get the added bonus have having their contacts synced to their Android Favorites. You can add a star to a contact from your desktop or on an Android device, and have a two-way sync.

From your Android device, select your Contacts App. Next, click Groups and locate your Google Account.

You can access your contacts this way, or by selecting your Favorites group (shown in the screenshot above, next to “Groups”).
